We had a great Fall Election for Student Council last week. On September 30, we had 32 4th and 5th graders running for office – a Wade Thomas record for sure! The student candidates gave thoughtful, creative and heartfelt speeches to an MPR filled with their excited peers. And after an incredibly close tally of votes, the following students were elected as our Fall 2015 Student Council officers:
President: Nate Cloughley, 5th Grade
Vice President: Pyper Healy, 5th Grade
Secretary: Callum Nelson, 5th Grade
Treasurer: Roman Cocciolo, 5th Grade
Then, on Friday, October 2, elections were held in each 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classroom for 2 Student Council Representatives per class, to round out our student council. The first Student Council meeting will take place on Friday, October 9. The students will get to work right away building school spirit and selecting a service project for the semester.
A special thank you to Donna Faulkner, Marlana Kenilvort, and Melina Olenberger, for helping make it all happen.
We look forward to seeing how this group takes on the responsibility to make their school and their community an even better place. And given the enthusiasm we felt last week, we can’t wait for them to get started!
