We kicked off our first 2016-2017 Wade Thomas Science Fridays with a topic on Static Electricity. Imagine thirty children in a classroom, each holding a colorful balloon and each having hair going straight up! It was a sight not to be missed. The children learned which materials create static electricity, how to stick a balloon to a wall, how to pick up confetti with a charged balloon and how to move an empty soda can with a charged balloon.
Vocabulary: Electricity, electron, negative charge, positive charge
