The Wade Thomas Safe Routes Team is part of a nation wide program designed to decrease traffic and pollution and increase the health of children and the community.

Safe Routes to Schools (SR2S) promotes walking and biking to school, using education and incentives to show how much fun it can be! SR2S addresses parents’ safety concerns by educating children and the public, partnering with traffic law enforcement, and developing plans to create safer streets. Marin County pioneered the national Safe Routes to Schools program that has spread across the U.S.

Walk and Roll Wednesdays!
Walk and Roll WednesdaysStarting September 28th, 2016 we’ll be promoting Walk and Roll Wednesdays. We’d love it for everyone to take a green way to school everyday, but the reality is not everyone can. But, if you can try to do it once a week, Walk and Roll Wednesdays is for you! Please make sure you’ve registered your child on our Green Ways tracking system and received their tag(s). Come to the bike cage (Woodland Ave. side of school) for swag, goodies and fun!

Golden Wheel Challenge
Golden Wheel ChallengeThe Golden Wheel Challenge Starts in October! The Golden Wheel Challenge runs on the first Wednesday of almost every month (See Schedule Below.) Each month all the class rooms in that grade vie to bring home the gold. The winning class receives recognition at assembly and a chance to decorate the Golden Wheel Trophy. Along with the bragging rights and potential lucrative company sponsorships that come with it. [OK, some of that does not happen.]

The Safe Routes program includes education, incentives, and partnerships with law enforcement and our town government.
